School Council

School Council

At Hardwick, we have a School Council who represent the views and ideas of the pupils in the school.  We hold regular meetings in which the children can discuss issues that directly affect them and the running of the school.  The school council discuss issues such as meals, PE and playtimes.

The School Council gathered the views of the children and were influential in creating the school meals committee.  This is now an important voice in deciding what should appear on the menus as well as tasting food that the kitchen creates!

During our discussions about PE in school, the children expressed an interest in having more extra-curricular opportunities in school, and we have been able to accommodate this by starting a multi-sports club for both boys and girls.  They have also had the opportunity to help shape the new PE curriculum by giving ideas about the types of sports and activities they would like to be taught.

This year representatives of the school council are planning a visit to the Houses of Parliament.  We are looking forward to visiting the centre of democracy and learning about its history.

The school council will also continue to work with the kitchen to ensure school dinners are continually improved and work to make sure playtimes are well resourced and fun!
